So i gave blood today for the first time and heres a few things i learned:

1. To test for iron levels in your blood they do a finger prick not fingerprint test. This misinterpretation on my part left me pretty surprised when they were suddenly jabbing my finger and stealing my blood.

2. Don't try to donate if you're gay. I'm not gay but i did not realize they won't even take your blood if you are. I found out when a gay man started giving some of the nurses the finger and yelling at them.
-(also this is ridiculous and discrimination. A drug addict can be clean for a few months and give blood just fine but a gay man can never give blood... wtf?)

3. The correct answer to almost every question they ask you is NO (unless of course you do have a random disease or enjoy the occasional shot of heroine) even when that question is a trick question:

For example one of the questions read:

Are you aware of a diagnosis of Cruetzfeldt-Jakobs disease in any of your blood relatives....
which if i answer yes means that one of my blood relatives has CJD and i know about it but if i answer No it still could mean that one of my relatives has CJD but i just don't know about it. gwah??? In short the correct answer is probably No.

Finally. 4.
The needle is not that bad, really, honestly. However, and this probably only applies to men, they do put tape on your arm and a band aid and if you have hair on your arms taking off the tape and band aid hurts infinitely more than the actual needle.

EDIT: I lied at the beginning. This was my first time donating blood for the blood donor clinic at work i've given blood to be used for experimental purposes and that was far creepier. At those times they used a massive syringe (think about half the diameter of a pop/soda can and about 1.5 times the length of the same can).

I'm soo bored, and i don't mean normal i've got nothing to do now so i'm bored, i mean mind-numbingly crazy want to jab self in the eye just to relieve boredness bored. Usually i would fix this problem by watching some anime, but I just finished watching all the ones i was watching (except ongoing ones like naruto and bleach) and now I need a new one. Anybody have any suggestions??
