Gaylord Invitational
Posted on: October 14, 2008, at 08:23:57pm

Woohoo!!!!! I ran an 18:20 5K race at the Gaylord Invitational today, (which gave me 24th place overall) and also which is now my new fastest time ever. Hopefully I'll be under 18 minutes before my senior cross country season is over. I have about 3 races left.

EDIT!!!!!:
Forget 18:20, I ran a 17:57 today (10-18-08) in Chippewa Hills! Running under 18 minutes is like the oni get of Cross Country! Now let's see if I can get even faster...

EDIT 2:
17:57.1
That's my time at regionals, which I placed 47th. Meh, at least my team made it to states. Now I get to race at Michigan International Speedway with the best of the state, and have the run of my life.

EDIT 3:
State Finals, baby!!! My team had no shot of even placing in the top 10, so we could just chill and have a great time. Just for a little fun, I decided to sprint ahead of everybody when the gun went off, just to be the leader in the state finals, even if just for a second. I ended up coming in 184th place of 252 runners, even though I ran the fastest time I've ever run.

17:46.5

Though, it's sad to think that I'll never run another high school 5K. It disappoints me because I think I was finally starting to get good at them, and that I had so much more potential which I could have tapped into had there been a few more races.

Overall, it was a great experience, and it's the most fun I've had in a long time. Now I'm getting pumped for track in the spring.

  1. Less FFR, more running! Go run!! Haha congrats on breaking 18 though. Where do you go to school?
